William Johnson L’Engle, Jr. (1884-1957) and Lucy Brown L’Engle (1889-1978), shared a unique and creative life, participating within and contributing to the formal developments in the plastic arts across a unique and fertile period of history. They dedicated their resources and energies to painting for over fifty years. The Artists involvement within the development of 20th Century Modernism engaged the new way of seeing and being in a world that was undergoing tremendous changes.

Above all, and they embraced these developments to communicate the beauty and the history of their favorite places, Truro , Cape Cod;New York City, St. Augustine, Cuba, France, Mexico and New Mexico.
